Betsy's on Vacation

My appointment went fine on Monday--no bedrest and no further progress so I just need to take it easy. Grandpa and Aunt Maggie picked B up on Monday evening and took her to Vacherie for a few days. She is coming back tomorrow. I really miss her, but I know she is having a blast. Momma Lady said that B is constantly requesting to color and to go outside. I have been able to rest and spend time with Attie and Lawson. Lawson had her first professional photo session today and she looked beautiful.

Here are some pics from Easter weekend and one of Attie and Lawson from today:

Easter Weekend Roundup

We had a good Easter weekend for the most part. Unfortunately I have been having some preterm labor symptoms so I spent most of Saturday and Sunday lying on the sofa and missed a lot of Easter activities. I have an appointment this afternoon so I guess I'll find out what's going on.

On Thursday we went to the playgroup Easter party at Caroline's. The kids had a blast and Caroline went out of her way to make it a wonderful party. After the party we visited Lawson. On Friday I went to visit Lawson again and had lunch with the Carvilles. Since Peter was off and stayed with B I got to spend some quality time with Lawson--she's so tiny and sweet. On Friday afternoon P, B, and I went to do a bunch of errands--I think that was my downfall--we walked a lot. We went to dinner at Crazy Johnnie's. P and B split a steak and I ate a stuffed artichoke and salad. On Saturday we went to Gumbo's for our annual day before Easter crawfish boil. I spent the whole time lying down in Gumbo's room while B ate a tray full of crawfish and corn on the cob. I got up in time to watch the Easter egg hunt and B ate a bunch of chocolate eggs. Yesterday P and B woke up at 8. I was up at 7 with the camera and video camera ready to capture B's reaction to the Easter Bunny's visit. B was a bit nervous at first--just like on Christmas morning--but soon she dove into her basket. Marme, the sisters, the boys, and baby Lawson came over for breakfast. It was Lawson's first outing and she was so good! Since I wasn't feeling well P and B went to Vacherie without me. Peter said she ran around all day with her cousin Charlie.

B has been doing lots of great tricks lately and saying lots of cute things. I gave B some chicken for dinner a few nights ago then I brought her some peas. She looked at the peas and said "boos"--that's what she calls a spoon. I brought her a spoon and she ate her peas with it and did a great job. She's such a big girl! Whenever I put on lotion B will come up to me and say "keem" (cream) and I'll give her a dab. On Saturday she came up to me and said "gimme keem." I've been talking to B about colors using her crayons. I held up a brown crayon and said, "what color is this?" and she said, "meat." Later I was drawing shapes and I drew a box using the brown crayon and asked what it was and again she said meat.

B is now starting to say Marme, Attie, and cookie instead of Maw-Maw, Adda, and cook cook.

B always hands me a crayon or the pen on her Doodle Pro and says "bunny" or "meow" so that I'll draw bunnies, cats, and other things for her. I'll draw things and she tells me what they are. She recognizes the letters B and E, stars, moons, hearts, and circles. Now whenever she sees a bunny she says "hop hop" and then Saturday she started saying "hoppity hoppity" when she sees a bunny. She has had this music box that projects animals on the ceiling for a while, but she's really into it now and is starting to name the animals "mon-KEY," zebra, hippo, and "ella."

She loves Mickey Mouse and can name most of the characters and she loves Little Einsteins on Disney and constantly asks for "Eye-dyes" (Einsteins).

Whenever she hears music she starts to dance. She has a few signature moves--waving her arms, shaking her booty, jumping, clapping, and trying to snap.

When I give her anything to eat she'll say "hot" and wave her hand and blow on it--even if it's ice cold.

Lately when I ask her who is in my belly she turns her head and walks away or ignores me. Yikes.

She is starting to put together little sentences like "mamma, sit, lap, read" or "eat cookie."

This morning B was so snuggly and would say "mama" then give me a kiss then "dada" and give P a kiss. Then she would giggle and say "kiss."

Yesterday I gave her something and said "what do you say?" and she said "ta ta." My girl is learning her manners.

Ok, I just wanted to get this all down. Eventually I will put it all in her baby book.

Here are some pics from Thursday and some that Gumbo took on Saturday. I need to upload my Easter weekend pics.

Welcome, Baby Lawson!!!

Katherine Lawson Carville was born at 11:06 a.m. She weighs 7 lbs, 12 oz and is 21 inches long. She is absolutely adorable! Attie is doing very well and so is Beau. They are natural parents. We're so happy that she is a part of our family.

Weekend (and last week) Roundup

B woke up on Tuesday morning feeling better. We stayed in just to make sure, but she was fine. Gumbo brought B to Jama, Pa, and Taddy's house for dinner. On Wednesday she was totally back to her old self. We met Krista, Lauren, & Ryan at the zoo. B loves the playground more every time we go. On Thursday we hosted playgroup and the new playroom was a hit with the kids. It was nice for the moms to sit back and chat and not have to worry about the kids getting into anything that they shouldn't get into. On Friday B and I went to Lakeside and had beignets. She kept saying "choo choo" and was fascinated by the Easter train. She was terrified of the Christmas train, but I thought we would give it a shot. Well, she got on the train and let me buckle her in, but as soon as the train whistle sounded she got scared and I had to take her off. Gumbo, Kay Kay, Peter, and Lola came to visit in the afternoon. Friday night we grilled and B ate a ton of steak and corn on the cob. After dinner P and I watched 'American Gangster'- it was really good. On Saturday we did some work around the house then went to lunch at Hana. B ate a ton of squid salad (meat) and ate a bunch of rice and tempura veggies. After lunch I took a nap and B and P went to Daneel Park then had ice cream. Peter said that he spent the time at the park chasing after Betsy--she's getting really fast. Marme watched B last night so Peter and I bought Sadie's crib mattress and went to dinner. We got home at 9:30 and I was exhausted--sad, I know. Today Grandpa and Momma Lady came over to help us switch rooms with Betsy. Betsy and Sadie are going to share our bedroom and we moved into B's nursery. B played outside with her water table for a long time today--she loves being outside (or ow-dise as she calls it). Gumbo picked B up this afternoon and took her to the Park to feed the ducks. She was exhausted from her day of fun. She went to bed in her new room very easily. Hooray!

I'll post pics tomorrow--my camera is in B's new room. We're still in the process of moving our things out of Sadie's side of the room.

Weekend Roundup

Peter and I had a very productive weekend. We finished lots of projects--painted B's room, organized the drawers and cabinets in the kitchen, organized the linen closet and bathroom closet, organized B's closets, and moved all of the baby bath stuff downstairs. Betsy had an exciting weekend in Vacherie. She went to Baton Rouge on Saturday to visit the Nichols family and they dyed Easter eggs and made Easter cupcakes. They went to Cabela's and saw the big animals. And yesterday they went to the Oak Alley Arts and Crafts Festival.

Poor B is under the weather. She had a fever last night and still has a fever today. We went to see Uncle Tommy this morning and everything looks OK so we're just going to see if her fever goes away in the next couple of days. My poor baby is so clingy and sleepy and fussy. Nothing is making her happy right now.

The Toddler

Betsy is truly a toddler. She has opinions about everything and when she's frustrated she lets everyone know. She is obsessed with blueberry muffins (muh-muh) from coffee shops. She has become a picky eater. She loves climbing on everything. I think she might sense that somebody new may be joining the family, because she wants me to hold her and she wants to sit on my lap constantly. Momma Lady and Grandpa are picking B up this afternoon for a weekend in Vacherie. We're going to miss her!

On Tuesday afternoon we met Andrea & Julia and Evelyn & Georgia at the Parenting Center. B loves Georgia (Dorda) and Julia (Dulia). Sometimes she tries to get a little too close to baby Julia though! Marme watched B for a while in the afternoon and I got to rest. On Wednesday B had her first appointment with Gumbo. She did well before and after her exam, but during the exam she was not very happy. It only lasted a couple of minutes though and Gumbo gave her lots of prizes when she was done. Later we went to a park with Krista, Lauren, and Ryan. On the way there we drove through Starbucks. As soon as Betsy saw the brown paper bag she started saying "muh muh" and said it the whole way to the park. She and Lauren played on the slides and ate their muffins then fed some of their muffins to the ducks. Yesterday we went to Ticia's for playgroup. The kids had a blast playing with Will's water table. Last night we all went to Houston's (hooray--it's back on St. Charles!) for a going away dinner for Bee. She's going to Asia for 3 weeks--we'll miss you, Bee! We just got back from meeting Andrea and Julia at PJ's. B kept lying down on the floor and picking up various gross things. I used to look at kids who did that and wonder what was wrong with their mothers. Sorry to all of those moms! Sometimes it's really hard to control a wandering toddler.

Sadie Update: Last night Peter and I were lying in bed watching Sadie move all around. I have dropped a bit so it is easier to breathe. I can't believe I'm already 30 weeks pregnant--the time has really flown by!

I'm going to post pics later today.

Weekend Roundup

Last week I had two appointments. I had my 7 month checkup and my follow up ultrasound. Both visits went very well. It was so amazing to see our little baby during my ultrasound--she put her hands to her face, stuck out her tongue, and kicked a lot. Last Thursday we went to the Zoo. It was a beautiful day and the kids took over the playground and B loved the carousel. On Friday Aunt Katie, B, and I went to PJ's then did some errands. B was not happy since she didn't get her morning nap. She is fine with taking one big nap each day, but she likes to nap from 1030 or 11 until 12 or 1230. I guess I'll keep pushing it back little by little over the summer so she'll be ready to go to school from 9 till 12 in the fall. On Friday night P picked up Sake Cafe for dinner and B loved P's squid salad and tempura vegetables. B wasn't happy when P left to go pick it up and cried for her Dada. I kept telling her that her Daddy was picking up vegetables for her so she started crying "dubbles, dubbles."

On Saturday we met Hal for lunch at Theo's. It was great to see our BR pal--we miss him already! On Sunday P went to play golf. Marme, Katie, and Attie came over and we had PJs and B performed. I videotaped her doing her dance routine. We kept telling her to dance, shake her booty, and jump. It's hysterical. B and I went to Lauren's birthday party at Build-a-Bear in the afternoon. B built a super cute bear and ate cheetos and cookie cake. Lauren looked adorable and she and B hugged and kissed when they saw each other. Last night Gumbo took B to the Park to feed the ducks.

Today we went to Music class then home for a nap then we met Evelyn and Georgia at Babies R Us to pick up some supplies for B and for baby Sadie. Tonight Gumbo picked B up and brought her to dinner at Jama, Pa, and Taddy's house. She came home and crashed right away.
